About 401kXtra
If you're like most folks, you probably have little or no idea what your retirement savings will be worth at retirement age. You may have even resigned yourself to the notion that you'll retire when you can afford it. Wouldn't it be comforting to know the answers well in advance of retirement years?
Can I afford to retire at age 65?
Could I afford to retire sooner?
What will my yearly income be?
How long will my money last?
Knowing the answers to these questions would afford us the opportunity to formulate a plan that would achieve our specific retirement goals. The 401kXtra program was developed specifically to do that and so much more.
This program is completely adaptable to any retirement savings plan. Whether your plan is a Keogh, 401(k), 401(a), 403(b), 457, or an IRA, the 401kXtra program is equally suited for all. The key to its adaptability lies in the setup portion of the program. Setup is performed only once and takes only a few minutes. When you have completed the setup portion, the program retains this information in special INI files for subsequent use.

Let's assume, for instance, your plan is a 401(k). Setup will ask questions such as, does your employer contribute to the fund; how much he contributes, and so on. Setup continues by listing and inputting all the funds available in your 401(k) plan. Your plan would most likely include stocks and/or mutual funds. Using the Internet, the program will automatically retrieve all of the ticker symbols, as well as the short and long term return rates on these funds.
After setup has been performed, the user can begin to explore the program's potential. By experimenting with a variety of different scenarios, it will show the vast difference a few pennies or a few percentage points will make on the retirement plan's performance over the long run. By inserting different stock and mutual fund options into the program, the user can instantly see the effects this will have on the plan's ultimate savings. This allows the user to develop a long-range strategy. You'll know where you're going and how to get there.
Some additional features of the program include the Charts and Graphs section. This feature provides performance levels on each of the funds over a user-defined timeline. The Charts and Graphs windows will display an extensive amount of information regarding the funds that are available to you. You can chart a past performance on all funds offered by your plan, or the entire stock market for that matter. This can be daily, monthly, yearly or at five-year intervals. Charts can be drawn to compare one plan against the next, as well as compare them to the S&P 500, NASDAQ, or the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
All 401(k) and similar investment plans provide some way of accessing your account information. Because of the growing popularity of the Internet, many companies are now opting to use the Internet for the retrieval of investment plan information. With this service, the individual can perform a host of operations, including current status of the plan, changing investment direction, and increasing or decreasing investment funds. We, therefore, have included a built-in web browser, which is linked to the investor's retirement plan's home page, as well as other sites specific to retirement fund information.
If, by chance, your 401(k) or similar plan does not provide a "Home Page" on the Internet, don't despair. There are dozens of sites available which provide valuable information for savings portfolios. Some pre-established "Home Pages" can be easily customized to include your entire plan's mutual funds and stocks.
Offline features allow the user to view charts, graphs, and other pertinent information retrieved from the Internet without actually being connected to the Internet. Offline browsing allows users to view Web pages from special cache files, a local repository of files gathered from the Web through normal browsing and the delivery of content subscriptions. When Work Offline is selected, the system enters a global offline state independent of any current Internet connection, and content is read exclusively from these cache files.
User Profile: Allows multiple retirement plans to run on the same program. Because of the growing popularity of retirement accounts, it is not unusual for families to have more than one investment plan. Each member of the household could possess a retirement plan, and in today's world, it is feasible for an individual to possess more than one plan. For this reason we have added the User Profile feature. This allows multiple users within the family to custom design the program for his or her unique plan. To view another plan, simply click File, User Profile, and the appropriate name, and you're ready for a completely new retirement plan unique to that particular investor.
Complete and Comprehensive Help Files: The Help files are designed to guide you through each phase of the program with detailed explanations along the way. You may access the help files at any time by pressing Help or pressing F1 for context sensitive help.
The above literature is only a brief explanation of what the 401kXtra program can do for you.
